Background & Inspiration
Nuclear Boy is an up and coming artist based in Essex under the shadow of Bradwell Nuclear Power Station. The name is taken from an early unreleased Killing Joke song and reflects the paranoia felt in the world during the artist's childhood growing up at the end of the cold war near Greenham Common Airbase where some of the first American Cruise Missiles were deployed in the UK. At the time there was an uneasy stalemate between East and West. Both sides had enough nuclear weapons to completely destroy the planet several times over and this situation was known at the time as Mutually Assured Destruction or MAD for short!
After the short lived elation at the dismantlement of all long range Inter Continental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM'S) on both sides and the symbolic destruction of the Berlin Wall many of the former Soviet republics descended into civil war and effectively the Soviet Union was finished and no longer a super power in the world anymore.
This paved the way for the United States (the new Romans) to become the only super power in the world and enabled them to start to spread their brand of 'democracy and peace' by bloody invasion and 'shock and awe' in the middle east. To justify the invasion of these oil rich countries the US put on the biggest show on earth. The controlled demolition of the World Trade Centre. Please refer to the links page for links to compelling documentaries that attempt to explain what really happened on September 11th 2001. Did you ever wonder why the US invaded Iraq when Osama Bin Laden was offered up as the 'official' chief suspect?
As the world gets ever closer to its final hour and we in the west are ruled by fear, Nuclear Boy encourages you all to think for yourselves. Do not accept 'official' explanations, question everything and above all........
Protest and Survive!
